Sally Hansen Shoot the Moon

Sally Hansen has reformulated their Complete Salon Manicure line.  The new formula is slowly starting to show up in stores right now.  So far I've seen shelf displays at Walgreens with part of the collection, wall displays at Target with I think most of the collection, and of course a spot in the new Nail HQ at CVS- but again with only part of the collection at least at the stores I've been to.
With the new formula there were some color changes as well.  Some colors were discontinued, some remained the same, a few were renamed I believe, and of course some new colors were introduced.  Today I have one of the new colors to show you.

Shoot the Moon is pewter foil polish with tiny gold flecks.  Application was very smooth and I really liked the formula.  Brushstrokes will show up a little bit since this is a foil polish, but they aren't super noticeable.   I used 2 coats of polish for full coverage over Finger Paints base coat and no top coat.

If you're looking to try out the new formula of the Complete Salon Manicure line, I would recommend Shoot the Moon.  I really like the color and it goes on well.  Some of the new colors are, or are close to being, dupes of colors by other brands.  There's one that looks like a dupe to Designer, de Better! from the OPI Muppets collection and another one that looks like a dupe of Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe.
I've always been a fan of this line from Sally Hansen and I'm glad they didn't ruin it with the formula change.  The new colors look great, I have my eye on a copper glitter right now, and there are usually sales pretty often on the brand.

Seche Aristocrat

Happy Monday again everyone.  I hope you all had good weekends.  Mine was pretty good.  Hockey is back, FINALLY, and my Sharks won their first game.  Oh, and the 49ers are going to the Superbowl, though honestly I'm not really a football fan.  Sunday was a good day for Bay Area sports.
I have a polish from the new-ish Seche color collection.  I say new-ish because they released the colors last year in October.   Today I have Aristocrat for you.

The Seche colors are listed as fast drying one coat polishes.  Aristocrat is a deep dusty purple with silver shimmer.  Application was smooth and the formula was good, just a touch on the thick side.  It dried fairly quickly, but not as quickly as their Vite top coat does.  I did only need 1 coat of polish for full opacity.  I used Finger Paints base coat and no top coat for these photos.

There are 33 colors in the new polish line from Seche.  Aristocrat appealed to me the most color wise, but based on application, I'm definitely willing to try more of the line.  I found these at a local beauty supply and I want to say I paid around $4 or so for Aristocrat.  I believe they retail for $8.50 however and should be available at Ulta soon.

Maybelline Silver Gleam

Happy Wednesday everyone.  I have officially started back to work, although only a couple of light shifts so far.  I must say being stuck at home not able to do a whole lot is REALLY boring.
Today I have Silver Gleam from the Maybelline Color Show Sequins collection.  This was a limited edition collection back in November, but you might still be able to find the collection floating around.  I saw it at Walmart in December on a brand new Maybelline display.

Silver Gleam is exactly what you would expect it to be with that name in a collection called Sequins.  It is multi-size silver glitter with holo hex glitters.  The glitter is very dense and gives good coverage.  I used 2 thickish coats over Finger Paints base coat and no top coat.  The formula and application were good, especially for a glitter this dense.

Remember to click on the photos to enlarge them and see more detail.  Silver Gleam is super sparkly and my camera freaked out a bit at it.  This is the only polish I've tried from the Sequins collection, but if I ran across any of the others, I would consider picking them up.

ZOYA IS THE NEW COLOR OF FASHION!
Find it at zoya.com

 Instructions for Zoya PixieDust application:

Clean and prep nail using Zoya Remove +
·         Magic Time! Apply 1 thin coat of Zoya PixieDust to each nail  - allow to dry completely (will appear matte with sparkle).
·         Apply an 1-2 coats of polish (allowing each to dry) as desired. We suggest 2-3 thin coats of Zoya PixieDust for a full coverage manicure.
·         That’s it - Done! You now have the latest textured nail look in the famous long-wearing, Big5Free Zoya PixieDust Nail Polish formula!

NOTE: Zoya PixieDust Nail Polish dry times are a little slower than with traditional polish but once dry, the Zoya PixieDust formulation will provide extended wear.
Best results are achieved by using the product alone. No basecoat or topcoat required. Layering of the Zoya PixieDust formulation with other polishes may produce less than desirable results.
Remove Zoya PixieDust by saturating a cotton pad in Zoya Remove + and pressing to nail for a few seconds. Repeat on each nail for best results.

Orly Miss Conduct

Happy Friday all!  Anyone have big plans for the weekend?  Mine involve going back to work.  I'm actually looking forward to it.  So to celebrate, today I'm showing you Miss Conduct from the Orly Naughty or Nice collection for Holiday 2012.

Miss Conduct is a magenta base with scattered holographic particles.  Formula was good and application was very smooth, no special base coat required.  I used Finger Paints base coat and no top coat for these photos.  I got a little happy with my clean-up brush on my middle finger so please excuse the excessive gap.

If you saw my holo comparison post here, you know that Miss Conduct is lighter than OPI Extravagance and Zoya Blaze.  I really like this polish and recommend it if you like holos.

Zoya Diva Collection Part 2

Today I have the second half of the Zoya Diva collection for Fall 2012 to show you.  I used Finger Paints base coat and no top coat for all swatches.

Ray

Ray is a deep forest green shimmer.  This is darker than a Christmas green.  I didn't have any issues with formula or application.  I did notice a bit of streaking if I used thin coats and there are a few more brush strokes than the other shimmers in this collection.  I used 2 coats for these photos.

Fei Fei

Fei Fei is a blue based grey toned micro glitter with gold and pink particles.  I want to call the base almost steel colored.  It's very hard to describe, at least for me.  I used 3 coats for these photos, but you could probably get away with 2 coats if you use thick, even coats.  I had no issues with formula or application.

Daul

Daul is a purple micro glitter with gold particles.  There's a lit from within quality from the gold.  My brush is a bit wonky, but aside from that I had no issues with formula or application.  I used 3 coats for these photos.

Direct Sun

Fei Fei is by far my favorite of the entire Diva collection.  If you haven't picked it up yet you should.  My pictures really don't do the polish true justice.

Zoya Diva Collection Part 1

Hello my lovelies!  I am feeling much better, and bored out of my mind sitting at home all day aside from a couple doctors appointments.  I know these swatches are a little late, but I wanted to make sure I got them up for you all before the Zoya sale ends.  I'll put up a quick info post on that soon too if you haven't heard about it yet.
The Diva collection for Fall 2012 contains 6 polishes that are a mixture of shimmers and micro glitters.  All swatches are over Finger Paints base coat and have no top coat.

Elisa

Elisa is a vibrant Christmas-y red shimmer.  I used 2 coats for these photos, but I'm not sure the 2nd was necessary.  It darkened the polish a bit, but didn't really add much opacity wise.  My brush feels a little off- almost mop-like- but even with that application was very smooth and the formula was great.

Direct Sun

Indoor Natural Light

Indoor with Flash

Suri

Suri is a blue-based royal purple shimmer.  Royal is a good description because when I look at this polish I think monarchs and throne rooms and all that stuff.  The formula feels a little runny and  tends to catch on the brush bristles so make sure you wipe your brush down well.  This is 2 coats.

Direct Sun

Indoor Natural Light

Indoor with Flash

Song

Song is a very vibrant sapphire blue shimmer.  The formula was a little runny again and if you go over an area you've already polished it can drag some.  Just wait a little longer between coats and you shouldn't have too much issue with that.  Dry time was longer than normal as well.  You might want to double up on the base coat as this one does have staining potential.  I used 2 coats for these swatches.

Direct Sun

Indoor Natural Light

Indoor with Flash

All three of these polishes are very lovely, but Song is my favorite of them.  What about all of you?  Which is your favorite?  Anyone try any of these yet?
