OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys

   When I think cowboys, I think horses and leather.  And maybe a few other dirty things I shouldn't mention ;).  Suzi Loves Cowboys is from the OPI Texas collection from Spring 2011. 

   Cowboys is a brown creme with a red undertone kind of like the leather on some saddles.  It does dry just a little darker on the nail, but not very much.  Application was a little streaky and the formula is a little thin and sheer.  Because of this I needed 3 coats for full coverage.  I used Beauty Secrets base coat and Diamond Dry top coat.

   Cowboys is a nice shade of brown, but nothing unique.

OPI Get in the Expresso Lane

   Get in the Expresso Lane is from the OPI Touring America collection for Fall 2011.   

   In the bottle this looks like a chocolate brown, but dries several shades darker and becomes a rich almost black brown creme, like a good cup of espresso.  There's just a hint of dustiness to the polish if you look close.  Application and formula were good.  2 coats were enough for full opacity.  I used Beauty Secrets base coat and Diamond Dry top coat.

   Expresso is a very nice deep brown and if you don't have something similar, it would be a good addition to your collection.  But it does feel a bit familiar doesn't it?  What do you ladies think?

Nicole by OPI Kardashian Collection Part 1 - Cremes and Jellies

   There are a couple of ways to divide the Nicole by OPI Kardashian collection.  One is by Kardashian, but honestly I can never keep them straight so that's not a good option for me.  The other is by finish.  This works much better for me so that's how I'm splitting the reviews.  The first part is the cremes and jellies.  There are 6 polishes in this part versus 8 polishes in the shimmers and glitters part.  For all of these swatches I used Beauty Secrets base coat and Diamond Dry top coat.  Unless otherwise noted, these are 2 coats each.

All Kendall-ed Up

   All Kendall-ed Up is a bright pink creme.  The formula is a bit thin and can have a bit of cuticle drag if you don't wait a few minutes between coats.  In person this polish is just a little bit more blue toned than the pictures show.

Kourt is Red-Y for a Pedi

   From the bottle Kourt looks like an orange leaning red creme, but as soon as I opened the bottle and looked at the brush I realized it is actually a jelly.  1 coat gives good coverage, but 2 is a little more opaque while still retaining sheer squishy look that makes jellies so fun.  I used 1 coat on my pinkie, middle, and thumb and then 2 coats on my ring and index fingers.  The longer I had the polish on, the more I liked it.  I think because of the squishy feel.

OPI Muppets Part 1 - Not the Glitters

   This first half of the OPI Muppet Collection is what I'm calling Not the Glitters.  They aren't cremes, but are distinctly not part of the glitter half of this collection.  This half consists of shimmer, mini flake, glass fleck, and foil finishes.  For all polishes I used Beauty Secrets base coat and Diamond Dry top coat.  Unless otherwise stated, all swatches are 2 coats.  I think.  But I'll explain that later.  I apologize for the crappy out of focus-ness of some of these photos, the shine and sparkle were freaking out my camera and I didn't have time to re-do them.

Wocka Wocka!

   Wocka Wocka is a pink leaning red shimmer.  The shimmer itself might be pink.  I had no application issues with this one, but it does dry flat so you will need top coat to bring it to life.  I used 2 coats on my ring and index fingers, but only 1 on my pinkie, middle, and thumb.  The pigmentation is strong enough you could get away with 1 coat just fine, but I think 2 gives more depth.  Because of the strong pigmentation though, the polish will stain your skin and cuticles

Zoya Codie

   Ready for some actual swatches and reviews again instead of press releases?  Well this post starts my reviews of the Zoya Smoke collection for Fall 2011.  

   Codie is a dark brown creme polish.  I mean DARK brown.  Like a good cup of expresso dark brown.  Hmmm, now I want more coffee.

   Anyway, Codie is very deeply pigmented.  I used 2 coats in the below photos.  But, if you do use 2 coats, make sure they are THIN coats.  Otherwise just use 1 thicker coat.  Application was great with the typical Zoya formula.  My base coat was China Glaze Strong Adhesion base.  I did not use a top coat in these photos so you can see just how shiny this polish is on its own.  A majority of Zoyas are this shiny on their own, especially the cremes.  Wear time went down a bit because of the lack of top coat though, so keep that in mind.

   Just look at that shine.  It's amazing.  This is a great fall color and would look good on a lot of different skin tones.

Maybelline Chic Chocolate

   Man, what a crazy week this has been.  Sorry I haven't posted in so long, I just got really busy.  But I should have something exciting to share with you soon so hopefully that will make up for it.
   Recently, New York held Spring/Summer '11 Fashion Week.  For those who don't know, Fashion Week is where the big designers reveal their new lines for the coming seasons.  Cosmetics companies also often reveal new lines and colors.  I know it seems like it's too early to be thinking about Spring or Summer, especially as some of us are still in summer, but it gives us a heads up on what's coming so we can be prepared, and maybe find bargains that will be more expensive later.
   This year, Maybelline New York released a limited edition collection of products in honor of Fashion Week.  I picked up three of the polishes from the collection.  The first of the three I'm going to show you is Chic Chocolate.  This is one of those polishes that looks very different depending on the lighting.  It is a deep brown almost black base with red shimmer that's hidden unless in direct sun.

China Glaze Ingrid & Swing Baby Reviews

   Hello all.  You guys are getting two reviews for the price of one today.  Why you ask?  Because I wanted to do something a little different with my nails this time.  Nothing major or complicated, just a little more interesting.
   I decided to use Ingrid and Swing Baby.  These are both from the China Glaze fall collection Vintage Vixen.  Ingrid is a slightly greyed brown with an almost hidden gold shimmer when you look closely. In indoor or low light it can easily be mistaken for a brown creme.  Swing Baby is an antique gold frost with matching shimmer.
