Zoya Fleck Effect Mylar Fleck Top Coats Review

The Zoya Fleck Effect top coats are what most polish lovers call flakies.  Basically they're little flakes, or flecks, of mylar or plastic in a clear or colored base that reflect different colors depending on the angle and amount of light.  For Spring 2012, Zoya has brought us 3 of these polishes.

The formula on these, and most other flakies, is a little different than your standard polish.  Because of the mylar pieces being bigger and thicker than a standard glitter piece the base they're suspended in has to be thicker to hold the pieces.  That means the consistency of these polishes is closer to a gel than a normal polish.
My base coat for all of these is China Glaze Strong Adhesion base.  I did not use a top coat.  In all of the pictures I did 2 fingers, pinkie and ring, just the flakie and 2 fingers, middle and index, the flakie over 1 coat of WnW Black Creme.  My pinkie and middle fingers are each 1 coat of flakie and my ring and index fingers are each 2 coats of flakie.  Confusing enough for you?

Maisie

Maisie is a blue base with flakes that shift from blue to green.  Green is the dominant color you will see from the flakes.  The blue flash mostly shows at strong angles and in dimmer lighting.

Opal

Opal is a green base with flakes that shift from blue to green.  The only difference I can see between Opal and Maisie is the base color.  The flakes act exactly the same on the nail.

Please click on this photo and enlarge it.  look at the bottom of the bottle and the far left edge of my middle finger.  You'll see a hint of the blue flash I was talking about with Maisie.  In the right light and the right angle, all of the flakes turn a rich blue color.

Chloe

Chloe is a pink base with pink to orange to gold flakes and green flakes.  This one has the most dense coverage of all 3.  Personally, I think this one should have been called Opal because of all the different colors of flakes.  Look at it over black and you'll see what I mean.

I apologize for the blurriness of some of these photos.  Apparently flakes freak my camera out just as much as glitter does.  But sometimes the blur actually gives a better sense of the colors/sparkle in the polish.  Chloe is by far my favorite of the 3 and the one I most recommend picking up.  I would suggest either Maisie or Opal as well, but honestly you probably don't need both.  I would just pick whichever base color you like better since the flakes act the same way.  I wish instead of making two with the same flakes but different base colors, they had given us a third flake color.  Maybe a purple to blue in a purple base.
What do you ladies think of these?  Which one is your favorite?  If you haven't seen swatches yet, Chloe looks AMAZING over Tru from the other part of Zoya's Spring release.
